SSAAANZ mentorship scheme is resuming in 2026, and we welcome interest from both mentors and mentees.

The scheme runs between February and November. Mentorship is primarily task or project based, and geared towards assisting mentees with specific pieces of work such as:

  • Preparing a conference paper

  • Publishing a scholarly article

  • Writing a book proposal

The scheme is also open to other forms of mentorship as required, including in areas of professional development relevant to Screen Studies. This may include:

  • Developing a CV/Resume, addressing selection criteria and interviewing

  • Assistance with navigating the dynamics of casualised work

  • Approaching promotion processes from within Screen related disciplines

The mentor scheme pairs Early Career Academics and Higher Degree Research students with more established scholars in the field. Mentors can include senior scholars as well as more experienced Early Career Academics.

The scheme is open and exclusive to current SSAAANZ members.

If you are interested in participating as a mentor or a mentee, please submit your response via the form below.
