MENTORSHIPS

SSAAANZ is restarting and refreshing our mentoring scheme, and welcome interest from both mentors and mentees.

The scheme has previously been task or project based, and geared toward assisting mentees with specific pieces of work such as:

  • Publishing a scholarly article

  • Preparing a conference paper

  • Conducting research in a niche disciplinary area

To this end, it has paired Higher Degree by Research students or Early Career Researchers with established, senior scholars in the field.

From 2024 the scheme will continue to operate in this way, while also being open to other forms of mentorship, including in areas of professional development relevant to Screen Studies. This may include:

  • Guidance with CV development, addressing selection criteria, and interviewing

  • Assistance with navigating the dynamics of casualised work

  • Approaching promotion processes from within Screen related disciplines

  • Facilitating conversations with scholars at different levels for prospective PhD students

  • ECRs working with new research methodologies post-PhD

  • Book proposals

The scheme is open and exclusive to current SSAAANZ members.

If you are interested in participating as a mentor or a mentee, please submit response via the form below.
